Module 1: Regulations, Natural Fibre, Synthetic Fibre Ropes & Slings.

Rigging work, in most countries, is governed by Regulations & Codes of Practice. In this 1st module we introduce the trainee to the most common regulations and rigging practices. Natural Fibre rope is often used in light rigging applications as slings and also with winches and sheaves. This module teaches you how to apply Natural Fibre Rope to these rigging applications. As with natural fibre ropes, Synthetic fibre rope has virtualy the same application areas. These ropes are much stronger and are more widely used in the construction industry. They need more care & attention, due to their vulnerability to heat and chemicles.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 2: Flexible Steel Wire Rope

Flexible Steel Wire Rope is the most used item in rigging & hoisting of Loads. This module is designed to teach you all about the care of wire rope, inspection and safe use.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 3: Winches, Sheaves & Purchases for Wire Rope

Wire rope is often used on winches for hauling & lifting purposes, along with sheaves. Purchases are the principle of moving loads with less effort.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 4: Anchorages, Fittings & Rigging Appliances

Wire rope is often used on winches for hauling & lifting purposes, along with sheaves. Purchases are the principle of moving loads with less effort

Price: 35 $(AUD)
Module 5: Chain

Chain is widely used in lifting & hoisting applications, but not just a type of chain. The use of lifting equipment is controlled by 'regulations'. In most countries they are called 'Standards'. All chains used for lifting purposes are Grade 8 and often called 'High Tensile' Chains.

Price: 30 $(AUD)
Module 6: Calculations & Safe Slinging

Calculations are at the heart of most rigging applications and are a necessity for safe slinging and moving loads with cranes and/or winches. This module takes you through most of the calculations that are required.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 7: Slinging & Working loads

Now that you are familiar with all of the Rigging appliances and Fittings, comes the time to put those into practice by slinging and working loads.

Price: 40 $(AUD)

Module 8: Selection & use of Mobile Cranes

After learning how to sling a load, we now have to select the type of crane suitable for the job. All cranes are not equals and therefore as a rigger, you need to determine which crane is suitable.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 9: Catilevered Crane Loading Platforms & Erection of Hoists and mast Climbers

Another appliance that riggers need to know how to install especially on Multi-Storey Buildings. This module also deals with the erection of Hoists and Mast Clinbers.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 10: Steel Erection

Steel Erection in some countries is done by others and not certified Riggers. However the installation of Structural Steel in most countries is carried out by riggers. So, you will learn the principles of steel erection here.

Price: 40 $(AUD)
Module 11: Safety Line Systems & Industrial Safety Net

Once upon a time many years ago............... Anyway some time ago, Riggers were installing machinery, erecting steel, assembling cranes and a multitude of other works with no safety systems in place, other than their common sense and training. Now it is a legal requirement from every government to set up safety systems to prevent falls in the workplace and especially falls from height. INDUSTRIAL SAFETY NETS, This type of equipment is used mainly as a safety device and is becoming more & more common on Building Sites

Price: 35 $(AUD)
Module 12: Cantilevered Lifting Needles

This module deals with the installation and requirements of cantilevered lifting needles

Price: 35 $(AUD)

Intermediate rigging (RI) Rigging

This course comprises the 12 basic rigging modules plus a further 4 intermediate modules. To upgrade from basic rigging to intermediate, just the next 4 modules are required

Module 13: Tilt-up Panels

In Australia, the Tilt-up Panel industry has soared to great heights and taken off with tremenous popularity over the last 10 years. In fact, the government has created another Licence specifically for Riggers in this Industry. Why? Because it was deemed too unsafe after too many workers who were fataly injured whilst working in this specialised industry. Well, here is a module that sets out the requirements and lifting calculations for lifting Pre-Cast Concrete Panels into position and secure them.

Price: 45 $(AUD)
Module 14: Multiple Crane Lifting

The use of multiple cranes to lift and place a load, in itself, creates many hazards. This module deals with those hazards and the requirements under the legislation for carrying out these tasks. Including calculations, crane selection and work areas.

Price: 45 $(AUD)
Module 15: Demolition Rigging

Demolition Rigging is probably one of the most dangerous of all rigging activities. Mostly due to 'Unknown' load weights, a cowboy attitude to safety and pressure by insurance companies to complete demolition works in record time. This module deals with this activity and the safety that need to go with it.

Price: 45 $(AUD)
Module 16: Rigging cranes & Hoists

One of the many activities of Riggers is the assembly and intallation of cranes and hoists. This includes tower cranes, lattice boom mobile cranes, multi-storey material hoists.

Price: 50 $(AUD)

Advanced rigging (RA) Rigging

This course comprises the 12 Basic Rigging Modules, 4 Intermediate Rigging Modules, plus 3 further Advanced Rigging Modules. To upgrade from Intermediate to Advanced Rigging, only the next 3 modules below (Modules 17-19) are required. For those riggers interested in pursuing this line of work there is a Working with Helicopters modules available.

Module 17: Fabricated hung Scaffolds

This activity is seldom done by riggers nowadays, as the Scaffolders are more likely to perform these tasks. However if you are asked to perform this work, you must have an Advanced Riggers Certificate and you can learn all about it here.

Price: 55 $(AUD)
Module 18: Suspended Scaffolds

Like with hung scaffolds, Riggers are sometimes called upon to perform the task of installing suspended scaffolding, and again, to perform the installation of suspended scaffolds. You must have experience and be the holder of an Advanced Riggers Certificate.

Price: 55 $(AUD)
Module 19: Gin Poles & Guyed Dericks

This module deals with the installation & use of Gin Poles and Guyed Dericks, which are predominantly used on the erection of Towers.

Price: 55 $(AUD)
Module 20: Rigging with Helicopters

This module is an extension of the advanced rigging training and is information only. For those riggers contemplating working with choppers.
